Filed under: Steelers , AFC North , NFL Injuries , NFL Quarterbacks Dennis Dixon ran the first-team offense during the Steelers ‘ practice Monday, and head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed afterward what had already been suspected: It will be Dixon under center Sunday when Pittsburgh opens the season at home against Atlanta.
The Steelers will play their first four games without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger , who was suspended by the NFL for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Veteran Byron Leftwich could have started those games, but he injured his knee in the preseason finale and will be out for some time.
